editorial illustration for NUN Magazin
With this illustration I added a new layer to the text’s message in an unexpected way. The text talks about how street chalk adds art to everyday spaces. Not only children, but everyone should enjoy be using them and make our every day life more colorful and joyful.
What stuck with me were “chalk’s for everyone” and the act of transformation. I thought about how e.g. cats often stay playful all their life and how they love playing with the simplest things. (You’ll know what I’m talking about if you’ve ever bought really cool cat toys and the cat ends up playing with the box it came in instead.)
So I created this line of chalk that is not flat on the ground, but visually transforms into a wool thread the cat is playing with.
