How I created educational & empowering images for instagram posts
For the company KadeFungin’s instagram account @holy.schritt, I developed a series of illustrations dedicated to intimate health education. The project aimed to inform about topics like intimate health, body and sex, while being an inclusive and positive space.
The Brief
Create illustrations that transport each topic in a light-hearted manner while showing different body types and using the brand’s bold colors.
My Creative Approach
The topics I was asked to work on were e.g. breast cancer, body dismorphic disorder, emergency contraception, vaginal fluids, endometriosis.
For each post I started sketching by hand and worked out two sketches for my clients to choose from. Adding funny characters, handlettering elements and “dopamine decor”-type interior accessories in each composition, I brought a sense of lightness into the instagram post designs.
How Illustrations can add value to your content
People want to feel special. If your content is interesting but doesn’t attract the eye of your viewer enough, they will just keep on swiping.
But if your audience gets to experience the information through a visual layer, that might help you keeping them engaged. Or even better: make them connect, laugh, comment or even encourage them to share your content with their friends & families. And instagram rewards this kind of engagement by pushing your post out to a broader audience.
